Beginner's guide to Minimalism

Updated: Mar 10, 2019

Ready to get rid of the clutter and simplify your life? Let's get started

1. Start with your weakness

Write down your goals !

Understand what’s your weak spot. If you are an impulsive shopper, that’s where you start. Try to be more mindful about what you buy. Ask yourself questions like “Do I really need this?" Don’t shop out of a whim.

2. Set goals

Set yourself small, but attainable goals. Make lists. Start by deleting your old emails, Cleaning your purse or cleaning that junk drawer etc.  Keep things exciting.  3. Take it easy Don’t tackle everything at one go. Start with one room, one shelf and work your way through. It’s not a competition, it’s a lifestyle choice.

4. Reuse, Renew and Recycle

Look for the 'recycling symbol' to effectively recycle them.

Using a bamboo brush instead of a plastic one can help save the environment !

Focus on these 3 R’s. Try switching to a zero-waste lifestyle and using products that you can reuse multiple times. This way you’re not only producing less waste but also saving some penny!!  Make sure you check the label and try to recycle as much as you can. 5. Declutter and Donate “It's better to donate than to accumulate” Say goodbye to clutter and donate things that no longer spark joy. You could also sell things you no longer need. This will also help you be more mindful and reduce stress.

6. Learn to let go.  Sometimes we can't let go of things as we put in some sentimental value to it. This could be an overwhelming experience for most people. Be selective about what you want to keep and don’t assign a sentimental value to every little thing. For instance, when a kid gives you a handmade card, it's quite hard for moms to get rid of it. But try to be rational, kids are most likely going to forget about it in a day or two. Don’t feel the obligation to keep everything.

That’s it! You are ready to go. Now enjoy the magic of simple life
